Student Worker Shares Her Experience at the YWCA

Working at the YWCA has been such an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Even though I have only been here for a little over a month, I love to see all the different ways we make a difference in the Alliance community. The YWCA has shown me ways, both big and small, of how I can make a difference in my own community. From blessing bags, meals on wheels, Christmas sponsorships, high school programs, and domestic violence awareness, I know that there is always something I can do to become involved and learn from these programs. So far, my favorite event was the Walk a Mile in Their Shoes. This raised awareness for domestic violence and had everyone walk a mile in a pair of heels. It was held at Mount Union, so it was rewarding and inspiring to see some of my own peers come out to participate in the event. I’ve enjoyed my time working here so far and can’t wait to see what else we’ll do this year!
